Chondro-Hasli | Dokra Crescent Collar Necklace

Reinterpreting the traditional Indian hasli through a balance of celestial folk symbols, the Chondro-Hasli pairs the softness of the crescent moon with the energy of the sacred sun coil. The centerpiece is constructed from three concentric, curved brass wire sweeps that taper upward into scrolled fleur finials with wire-binding coils. At the lowest curve rests a dual-tiered concentric spiral medallion—reminiscent of cosmic orbits and traditional alpona floor art. Rural Dokra artisans hand-shape every curved wire contour, coiled wrap, and spiral finial using pliable beeswax threads over an alluvial clay core before firing the assembly in rustic earth kilns. Molten brass takes the place of the melted wax, creating deep tonal shadows between the crescent bands, natural tactile variations, and a warm antique-gold satin luster unique to true cire-perdue craft. Suspended from tapered black thread-wrapped terminal sleeves on a hand-braided black cotton dori with an adjustable brass sliding bead, it contours flush against the collarbone.
