Bortula Dokra Brass Dangle Earrings
Description
Drawing from the timeless cosmic motifs of rural Bengal's 4,000-year-old cire-perdue (lost-wax) metalcasting traditions, the Bortula Earrings celebrate the elegance of pure form. The circular pendants showcase concentric spiral coils echoing solar discs (shurjo-chokro) and ripples on water, handcrafted by winding fine beeswax threads around a central core over an alluvial clay mold. Once fired in rustic open-pit kilns, molten brass displaces the melted wax, leaving behind the distinctive organic texture, warm antique-gold sheen, and subtle artisanal variations authentic to genuine Dokra craft. Suspended from matching French wire hooks, these drops move freely to catch the light. A versatile, featherweight pair that effortlessly elevates handloom cotton sarees, tussar silk drapes, or crisp contemporary separates.
