Tri-Chouko Hasli | Dokra Collar Necklace
Description
Merging clean modernist lines with Bengal’s 4,000-year-old cire-perdue (lost-wax) metalcasting craft, the Tri-Chouko Hasli reinterprets the traditional torque necklace through structural geometry. The rigid, crescent-contoured brass wire frame features delicate coiled binding wraps that flank three diamond-angled square spirals (chouko): two upper balance points and an elongated drop pendant creating an elegant vertical line along the décolletage. Artisans shape every labyrinth contour and binding coil by hand using flexible beeswax threads overlaid onto an alluvial river-clay base before firing in open wood-fueled kilns. Molten brass takes the place of the melted wax, creating an earthy satin-gold finish, natural tonal depth in the grooves, and subtle organic asymmetries. Anchored by tapered black thread-wrapped terminal sleeves on an adjustable hand-braided dori with a sliding bead knot, it sits flat against the collarbone. An architectural statement to style with crisp linen tunics, handloom cotton Jamdanis, or minimalist western necklines.
