Torongo Dokra Brass Ear Climbers / Bugadi
Description
Reinterpreting the traditional Indian bugadi (cartilage adornment) through the elemental craft of Bengal's 4,000-year-old cire-perdue (lost-wax) metalcasting, the Torongo-Dool Ear Climbers bring rhythmic folk architecture to the ear line. The silhouette ascends with sinuous, tiered zig-zag loops that echo flowing river currents (torongo), balanced at the base by a tight concentric sun coil. Rural artisans shape each contour by hand using flexible beeswax threads overlaid onto an earthen clay core before firing in rustic kilns where molten brass takes the wax's place. The finished piece reflects the warm satin glow, tactile raw texture, and subtle hand-cast variations authentic to true Dokra craft. Engineered with an open, contoured back hook, they hug the lobe or clip comfortably onto the helix cartilage without requiring extra piercings. A sculptural companion to pair with handloom sarees, raw silk kurtas, or everyday minimal fusion styling.
