Shankhini Dokra Brass Ring
Description
Honoring the sacred aquatic and nature motifs of rural Bengal, the Shankhini Ring transforms traditional folk symbols into sculptural metal art. The silhouette evokes the spiral whorl of a conch shell (shankha) or a stylized peacock plume, where an outer contoured frame curves gracefully around an expanding spiral vortex, balanced below by an opposing sun coil. Each fluid sweep and wire contour is painstakingly hand-rolled using flexible beeswax threads overlaid onto an alluvial clay core. Fired in primitive earth kilns, the lost wax is replaced by molten brass, giving the piece the tactile organic texture, slight natural asymmetries, and soft satin luster authentic to true Dokra craft. Built with an open bypass band, it adjusts smoothly to contour comfortably around any finger. A distinctive heritage piece to pair with Dhakai Jamdani saris, raw silk kurtas, or clean contemporary silhouettes.
