Prajapati (প্রজাপতি) Dokra Brass Bajuband
Description
Drawing from the rich folk iconography and primitive lost-wax (cire-perdue) traditions of Bengal, the Prajapati Bajuband translates organic movement into raw brass metalwork. The design features twin butterfly-wing silhouettes composed of tight concentric spirals that flourish into graceful, outward-curling tendrils. Crafted by indigenous artisans, the original form was meticulously shaped using warm beeswax threads laid over an earthen core, fired in open kilns, and replaced by molten brass. The open-ended, adjustable shank allows the piece to be worn securely on the bicep or forearm. A bold, narrative piece to style with Tussar silks, handspun Khadi, or contemporary fusion silhouettes.
