Description

Rooted in rural Bengal's centuries-old cire-perdue (lost-wax) metalcasting tradition, the Pakha Earrings showcase dense textural artistry. The silhouette draws inspiration from the classic haat-pakha (handcrafted hand fan) and rustic cottage awnings, featuring overlapping triangular sections filled with finely layered, concentric grooved striations bordered by rope-twist detailing. Artisans press each thread-like ridge by hand using flexible beeswax strands over a clay core before encasing the piece in alluvial river mud and firing it in open wood kilns. Molten bell-metal brass takes the place of the melted wax, creating deep shadow lines, a rich antique bronze patina, and the earthy tactile character unique to genuine Dokra craft. Suspended from matching French wire hooks, they bring an architectural, tribal focal point to handspun khadi, tussar silks, or minimal contemporary outfits.

  • Craft: Handcrafted Bengal Dokra (cire-perdue lost-wax casting)

  • Material: 100% Solid Brass / Bell Metal with an antiqued, grooved patina

  • Motif: Overlapping concentric fans framed in rope borders (Pakha / Pechali)

  • Closure: Classic French wire hook for pierced ears
